Post-Election Statement from OKEQ

Oklahomans for Equality

Dear Friends and Family,

As we work through and process the past few days, we are constantly reminded how wonderful this community is. Checking on each other, giving a hug, and offering encouragement.

But make no mistake. We are worried, we are anxious, we are feeling doubt. Our community and allies will continue to lean on one another for support, and we are here for you.

There may not be any one word or phrase to help ease the despair you may be feeling, but this does not change our mission. It only strengthens it.

Stay involved with local and rural 2SLGBTQIA+ outreach, resource groups, and centers. There is strength in numbers, resources, and unity.

Sending love and support,
Oklahomans for Equality

A Message from CenterLink CEO Denise Spivak

actionlink

The results of the presidential election have been announced, and we understand that our community is experiencing a wide range of emotions.

While the outcome may be disappointing, we see undeniable proof of hope for the future. The first ever openly transgender member of Congress will be sworn in, as will the first ever LGBTQ+ member of Congress from the south. There is a good chance that we will also see the first Latina lesbian elected to Congress. Marriage equality amendments prevailed with overwhelming support in California and Colorado. And across the country, voters continued to pass ballot referendums protecting access to abortion.

At CenterLink, our unwavering commitment to strengthen, support, and connect you - our LGBTQ+ member centers - remains steadfast. We will also continue to collaborate with our allies at the local, state, and federal levels to protect our members and safeguard the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in the face of evolving challenges.

As we navigate the road ahead, we are reminded that our resilience is our greatest strength, and our resistance is the driving force that guides us forward.

CenterLink will continue to stand by you, your centers, and your efforts to create a more inclusive and just tomorrow for future generations of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Oklahomans for Equality seeks equal rights for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and families through intersectional advocacy, education, programs, alliances, and the operation of the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.

Serving the community and allies since 1980, Oklahomans for Equality is home to a diverse, vibrant, and engaged community, knowledgeable staff, and dedicated volunteers.
