Outreach / EBA Ambassador

SUPERVISOR: Deputy Director
STATUS: Full Time/Non-Exempt
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Onsite/Office

JOB PURPOSE: The Outreach/EBA Ambassador is responsible for partnerships, outreach for membership and other areas with the purpose of getting the word out about OkEq. This is an externally facing position with the expectation of professionalism, relationship building, ability to work well with others and follow-through.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Required:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Friendly, outgoing, able to use good judgement and solve problems
• Desire and ability to meet new people in a professional setting
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
• 2+ years of sales, marketing or similar experience
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or ASL)

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Partnerships
• Build and maintain public-facing engagement with the 2SLGBTQ+ community, our allies, and partners
• Develop and execute partnership agreements
Memberships
• Recruit OKEQ organization and EBA members
• Organize and promote quarterly member town halls and occasional social gatherings
• Organize and promote monthly EBA gatherings and programming, promote inclusive businesses in Tulsa and surrounding areas
Outreach
• Represent OkEq in various community settings including pride, tabling events, and Oklahoma-related activities
• Attend allied organizations’ events and serve as a positive representative of OkEq in such engagements
• Support OkEq chapters and assist in establishing new chapters
• Work with Rural Pride Oklahoma and other organizations supporting the 2SLBGTQ+ community and with affirming religious organizations and similar entities
Other
• Drive and safely operate a 15-passenger van
• Work with OKEQ staff and communications committees to communicate effectively through a variety of digital means including social media and the I am Equality App (once developed)
• Some travel throughout the state with occasional overnights

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• High level of concentration and aptitude for learning wide variety of program information and new computer applications
• Ability to lift and move 20 lbs on a regular basis
• Ability to stand or sit and maintain alertness for several hours at a time
• Ability to speak distinctly and to communicate with customers and staff on the phone or in person
• Patience to deal with 5 or more people at the same time
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills for dealing with daily issues in a variety of situations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
