Elections for the 2008-2009 Board of Directors are now in progress!
September 29, 2008
Dear Friends:
As we near the end of our fiscal year, the time has come to elect the 2008-2009 Board of Directors. In order to ensure that all of our valued members have the opportunity to exercise their voting rights, the Board of Directors has adopted a new policy on board elections in conjunction with a recent review of our bylaws.
This year, we have four Directors who will remain on the board, serving the second year of the terms they began in 2007. Accordingly, there are eight positions available on the Board of Directors. Members may cast “yes” votes for up to eight of the ten candidates on the current slate. Candidates are categorized two ways: those nominated by the Board Development and Governance Committee and those nominated by a petition signed by at least ten OkEq members. Ballots will be written, tracked, and anonymous.
Follow these links for biographical sketches of all candidates and continuing board members and the OkEq policy on board elections.
Members may cast their ballots in three different ways:
1.) Members may cast their written ballots in-person at the OkEq annual meeting on Thursday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m.
2.)Beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1st through Thursday, October 9th at 7 p.m., members may come to the Equality Center during regular operating hours (3:00-9:00 p.m.) to cast an absentee ballot.
3.)Members may also request that a ballot be mailed to them by calling Carlos Padilla or Rick Spring at 918.743.4297. All returned ballots must be received no later than 1 p.m. at the following address:
P.O. Box 2687
TUlsa, OK 74101
I encourage you to take the opportunity to vote for those who will assume the very important legal and financial duties of serving on the OkEq Board of Directors and working to secure equal rights for LGBT Oklahomans and their families.
In Solidarity,
Laura A. Belmonte
President
Please join us for our annual meeting on Thursday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m.
